FAQs – About Our Puppies

Q: What puppies do you currently have available?
A: Any puppies that we may have available will be shown on our “Current Puppies” page or on our Good Dog page, along with photos and information about them, including “Available”, and their price. However, we do have a waiting list, so we only occasionally have puppies that are available to homes who have not already applied and previously been approved to join that list.

Q: What are your prices?
A: Our 2024 puppy prices are $2500-$3500, with an additional SC tax of 8%.
That amount does not include the $100 payment to reserve a place on our waiting list.

Q: Are your puppies registered?
A: Yes, all our dogs and each litter is registered with the American Cockapoo Club (ACC). Information about how to register your individual puppy with the ACC is included in your puppy’s go-home papers, as well as emailed in advance of the go-home date. All of our puppies are registerable with the ACC.

Q: Do you microchip your puppies?
A: Yes. All of our puppies receive a microchip, and their family is required to complete registration of that chip prior to bringing their puppy home.

Q: Do you vaccinate your puppies?
A: We give our puppies their first vaccinations as recommended by our vet. The following vaccinations are typically given 3-4 weeks apart. Your puppy will need a series of vaccines in the goal of full protection, and your vet can inform you of all necessary vaccination requirements. You will be provided a medical record in your puppy’s go-home papers.

Q: Do your puppies get dewormed?
A: Our puppies receive a regular preventative dewormer. You will be provided a medical record including this information in your puppy’s go-home papers.

Q: What do you feed your puppies?
A: Our puppies are provided the puppy food formula of Kirkland brand from Costco (also available online through Amazon) from about 4-5 weeks old (softened with water at first) until they’re a year old, when we transfer them gradually to an adult formula. We also give our dogs and puppies (starting at 6-7 weeks of age) a nutritional supplement called NuVet Plus.

Q: Why do you give your puppies NuVet supplements?
A: NuVet helps to boost the immune system of dogs and puppies. It’s full of herbs, vitamins, and minerals to help keep them in the best of health. We believe giving them this supplement helps reduce the risk of many potential health issues. When our families choose to continue providing NuVet Plus to their puppy, we extend our usual health guarantee from one year to three years.

Q: Will my puppy interact with other animals and children?
A: All of our puppies are born and raised in our home. Before they are four weeks old, they don’t do much exploring – they spend their time nursing and sleeping. After they are four weeks old, we interact with them frequently so they will be familiar with being handled by children and adults. By the time they are five-six weeks old, they are ready to play often (including outside, weather permitting), and the fun begins! We take individual photos of the puppies approximately every two weeks around 10 days, 3, 5, 7, and 9 weeks old. Puppies are chosen/matched with their families when they are around six-eight weeks of age, based on the order of the waiting list, and then typically go home at eight-ten weeks old.

Q: What training will my puppy have before he/she comes home?
A: By the time the puppies are six weeks old, we have started them on pad/paper training and/or taking them outside to potty. The puppies are used to household noises (vacuum cleaner, people going in and out doors, TV, people stopping to pet them or pick them up, etc.) They are well socialized by the time they are eight weeks old, and most of them are extremely friendly, even with strangers. They are very playful at this age, and lots of fun. They have daily interaction with other puppies, our adult Cockapoos, and people ranging from tiny tots to grandparents.

Q: What do you provide? What do I need to buy?
A: You should have a crate for your new puppy, as well as a collar, harness, and leash (recommendations can be provided on request, and items may be available from us directly).
We will send home a small baggie of the food they’ve been eating with us that will last for a few days, but you will need food and water bowls, and be prepared to purchase more food. Each of our puppies brings a toy/blanket/chew to their new home, but you can definitely get them more!

Q: When can my puppy come home?
A: Puppies go home at 8-10 weeks of age unless other arrangements have been made. If you wish for us to keep your puppy past 10 weeks old, there is a charge of $20-$60 per day, depending on the boarding or training options chosen.

Q: Would you be willing to keep my puppy for additional time?
A: If we keep your puppy for additional days, there is a charge to do so; this cost depends on boarding vs training, and there are also several levels of training that we offer (from $20-$60 per day).
Boarding means keeping the puppy with our other puppies (no individual training). Training can include crate training at night and/or day, beginning house training, leash training, and individual time starting simple commands such as come and sit. Additionally, there is a charge of $20 for a vaccination if that is required during his or her extended stay with us. However, we may not always be available to keep your puppy additional days – arrangements must be made ahead of time.
Please contact us if you cannot take your puppy home at the typical time.
